A look back in 2006

Sunday, December 31st, 2006

Well…It has been a pretty horrible year for the economy and the state of the US as a whole. This year has been fairly interesting with the media blowing every tiny piece of news out of proportion. Here is a look back on 2006.

CBS just wants to help lesbians get laid. Is that so wrong? ‘The L Word’ Spins Off Its Chart [New York Times]

Google antitrust case brewing . . . but wait, Google isn’t supposed to be evil! Google: Anti-trust case waiting to happen? [Matthew Ingram]

Wilson Pickett died this year….Mustang Sally will never be forgotten!

Steve Irwin at 44 years old, died after being struck in the chest by the stingray’s barb while he was filming a documentary in Queensland’s Great Barrier Reef. Probably one of the greatest animal activists who ever lived. There will never be a more energetic and loving icon for animal preservation as “The Crocodile Hunter”. Rest in Peace:

Steve Irwin

On the other end of the news :) Britney Spears had yet, another baby! Then decided it was best to pose nude during the pregnancy….

Then she got divorced and shortly after was very pleased to open up to everyone!

Yeah, we all have seen and really don’t care about seeing it again :)

So we’re still at war and Hussein was executed within the last couple days and the media still hasn’t stopped talking about it. It has been a year in history, that is for sure… Politics, we have Bush and his state of feelings on the war and Iraq. Whether Iraq will ever be able to sustain a government on its on? Hell no. Iraq will always be the same pile of shit that it was back when Hussein was in charge of it. Do we really think we are going to change a country that has been plagued with war and death for centuries by removing a guy that has only been there 40 years?

The middle east as a whole will continue to stay the same. The land and people do not know of any other way. Half of them are fighting to try and make the other groups go back home and leave it alone, although most are from the same place. The question is whether our children will have to watch and deal with the same problems as we are now. Will the US ever be able to function without trying to control all of the problems that occur throughout the world?

On that same thought, Bush has been portrayed as the anti-christ due to his initiative in the middle east and the sad thing is that these are the same people that said we should go to war in the first place. Will the people of the greatest country on Earth ever be happy? Nope.

So…With politics in mind, there was actually one of the greatest interviews of all time shown on Fox News with Bill Clinton and really does speak alot for how the US government is run. The problem is people believe the hype and really don’t question the media and the truth. It is all blown out of proportion and it is done so for the support of what the government wants us to support. The american people are programmed to believe only what they want us to believe and live the way they want or think we should.

Ann Coulter calls Bill Clinton a homosexual? This chick really makes friends everywhere she goes.

Speaking of homosexuals on Letterman…

So at this time it looks like the usual every year crap that keeps the news on TV! Although, there is one difference where this year sets itself apart from all of the others.

OJ Simpson….Who everyone knows killed his wife and the boyfriend at the house.. Writes a book, “If I did it” this is how I would have. So now he makes a fool of the state of California, kills 2 people, runs from the police on live television. Then admits with a 3.5 million dollar book deal and can live it up in sunny Cali. Only in America.

So enough of the serious stuff…

2006! South Park is back with new episodes!!!

Maybe more later…This has been long and I know you guys are tired of reading :) Have a great new years!

Why I use DreamHost

Saturday, December 30th, 2006

HatfieldFamilysite.Com is hosted by Dreamhost and highly recommends Dreamhost for your own web hosting needs.

Use the Coupon Code: SRVR87

Coupon code listed above will save you $87.00!!!

Here are a few reasons:

  1. Even the $7.95 a month plan is huge. You get 4.8 200 gigs of storage, 120 gigs 2 TERABYTES of throughput, unlimited databases, unlimited domains, 600 inboxes, a streaming server, a jabber server, and full shell access.
  2. If you want to set up a blog, all it takes is one click in the Dreamhost control panel and WordPress (a great open source blogging engine) will automatically set itself up for you. You can make whatever customizations you’d like afterwards, but you are literally five seconds away from having a fully functional blog.
  3. IMAP e-mail. So much nicer than POP3 email! I’d been using a regular POP3 account my whole life until I got my Dreamhost account, and now you couldn’t even pay me to go back. I like using full mail applications, and IMAP-based mail allows me to use multiple copies of Apple Mail on multiple machines. Dreamhost’s IMAP mail service also has a web front-end for when you’re using a public computer. POP3 is dead to me.
  4. Dreamhost’s web-based control panel is the best in the industry to my knowledge. You’re in control of so much that sometimes you feel like you’re going to click the wrong button and restart an entire server farm. Having a good control panel is crucial in cutting out phone support time and FAQ-reading time. But should you need help, Dreamhost’s FAQ section is also top-notch.
  5. Dreamhost engages in random acts of kindness. They have increased the disk space, throughput, and all sorts of other things on my account three times in less than a year. The latest time occurred during their New Years sale, but instead of just giving new users triple space and triple bandwidth, they tripled existing users’ allocations as well.
  6. Every person you refer to Dreamhost becomes an affiliate of yours and you get 10% of their hosting fees for life. You also get 5% of the hosting fees of whoever they refer. It’s like a pyramid scheme without the "scheme" part. If someone asked me who my hosting company was, I’d refer them unconditionally to Dreamhost even if this program didn’t exist, so it’s just a bonus that it does. It really only takes a few referrals and your hosting is either free or better than free.

Anyway, so that’s about it. Should you decide to go with Dreamhost, just click here and use the coupon code SRVR87 and save $87.00 on signup.

* Oh yeah, and there is a 97-day money back guarantee as well, so if things aren’t working out, you can cancel and get a refund.

Of course I can’t beat around the bush when I want to do a little self promotion :) Due to the fact I am constantly switching in between work, my laptop, my desktop, and my wife’s laptop. I decided to put an end to the stress of not having my bookmarks accessible.

On the other side of that, most people have heard of del.icio.us and like it. I have used it myself over time but I have always came to the realization that it could be done easier and possibly developed far past what it is now today. As of a month or so ago it hit the news when Yahoo! bought them for an undisclosed amount and I am sure they will be Flickr fucking the hell out of it at some point as Yahoo! does best.

So with my frustration and the need of knowing that my bookmarks will not be lost and I have complete control over the development process. So here it is and launched at: ZoneKeep.Com!

Signup and try it out. It is incredibly simple and absolutely one of the most useful tools you will find.
